Life Insurance Maintenance

We all know that feeling. That sinking feeling, where something unexpected pops up in front of you and tries to ruin your day. Well, some of those things are more serious than others and, of course, I have a couple of examples for your consideration.

What does life insurance have to do with the battery in my truck? More than you might think:

The other day, I decided to drive my truck to work. I got in and I turned the key, but the engine barely turned over. “What?” I thought, “This truck never lets me down.” That’s one of the reasons I like it!  Well, at the last minute, it caught. It had been a while since I’d last driven it, so I figured driving it to work would charge up the battery and everything would be fine.

A few hours later, I come out, put in the key, and it does the same thing. OK, now it’s serious. I take it to my mechanic, he lifts up the hood, hooks up his diagnostics, and says that I need a new battery – this one was five years old. I didn’t know that – I never check my battery. He replaced it.

Now my truck runs fine again. It wasn’t serious and it didn’t ruin my day.

When I went into the office that morning, we’d received the information we’d been waiting for to complete our review of a client’s life insurance policy. (Like my battery, it hadn’t been looked at since it was purchased-twelve years ago.)

When we hook up Our Stratus diagnostics, nothing escapes our scrutiny. All a policy’s secrets are uncovered. Nothing is left behind. What the diagnostics revealed was that this particular policy wasn’t as bad as my battery yet, but it was headed that way. We were able to identify that the insurance company was solid and there was no need to change it. We were also able to identify the exact premium necessary to keep that policy on track. In both a best-case and worst-case scenario, it would continue to do what it was supposed to, no matter what.

The client was pleased and relieved. The attorney that brought us in was delighted at how easy we made it for her to expand her level of care and service to her client. And the beneficiary was now safe – no sinking feeling like I’d had with my truck that morning. The policy will be there because we reviewed and corrected it in time.

At Stratus Financial Partners, we’re life and disability analysts. We review, evaluate and identify problems before they’re able to ruin your day. Or the beneficiary’s day. That would be a much more serious problem than my battery was.

At Stratus Financial Partners, we’re making the world a better place, one policy at a time.
